But, who exactly IS Patrick Demarchelier?

If you answered famed - fashion photographer whose work has been featured in many of the world’s biggest publications including Vogue and Harper’s Bazaar (to name a few), and photographed some of the biggest names in history, then you’ve won the game! Yay!! Haha!

Inspired by the Demarchelier’s work, as well as the work of David Bailey, Richard Avedon, and Mario Testino, I wanted to try my hand at the classic fashion portraiture that made them such icons. So, I reached out to my friend Alyse, whose natural, classic beauty and beautiful expressive eyes are any photographer’s dream to grace their camera.

As we were getting set up, I was so excited! But when the shooting started, the excitement started to wear off. I was struggling metering my lights, the set up didn’t seem to be working, there was an extra fill light that I didn’t realize was coming in from the side window which was throwing the shadows off, and the list goes on and on. As the slow panic started building, James quickly talked me off the ledge that my overly-dramatic artist brain was heading towards and brought me back to reality. I felt terrible trying to trouble shoot in front of Alyse, but fortunately, Alyse is brilliant, and was the most patient model. Without realizing it, she became the perfect muse to help inspire and bring my vision to life. Eventually, piece by piece, it all started to come together, and that’s when the magic began!
